ImPACT Concussion Testing

Fairfield High School is proud to announce that we will be offering the ImPACT Concussion Screening test to students in grades 5-12 who are participating in athletics.  Due to the growing concern regarding concussions, schools across Montana and the nation, are participating in the Baseline ImPACT screening test.

Each sports team will have a “testing” time set up near the beginning of the season and those students wishing to take part in the testing may attend and go through the 45 minute computer based test.  All results are held by secure ImPACT servers and all data will remain private.

Students who choose to participate in the testing program will need their parents to fill out a consent form.  This two page document gives more explanation about the program, its rules and regulations, and the involvement of Teton Medical Center.  You can download the consent form with the link below:

Parents who would like to learn more about the program are encouraged to look at the ImPACT website that can answer many frequently asked questions.

B Football (Billings Gazette Game of the Week)

– The obvious choice here is to pick Florence’s upset loss to Troy.

The Falcons entered the weekend unbeaten and ranked fifth in the Associated Press Polls. Florence has a couple of good wins on their resume, but they’ve been less than dominant at different times this season. Maybe they were looking ahead to this week’s showdown with Missoula Loyola?

– We mentioned Bigfork-Fairfield, Shelby-Malta, and Manhattan-Colstrip as games to watch last week, and Manhattan definitely “caught my eye.” Colstrip is one of the top teams in the 3B (they will probably be the confer

ence’s two-seed come playoff time), and the Tigers manhandled them. It sure seems like the Tigers are for real, but we’ll find out for sure on Friday when they travel to Townsend.

*On a side note from last week’s games to watch: Fairfield and Malta

solidified themselves as the top teams in the North. Bigfork and Shelby both had more than respectable outings, but the Eagles and Mustangs loo

k like they might be the top two teams in the

state.
